Territorially speaking, "Our" Beaches stretch from the north end of Anna Maria Island (Manatee county) to the northern tip of Venice (Sarasota county). We’re proud that our area beaches are the #1 on the “Must Do” list.
The northern tip of Anna Maria Island is the Bayfront Park. The sand dunes and sea oats are the reason this area is private and judging by the great view of the Sunshine Skyway, a favorite spot to Beach It! Holmes Beach is next heading south. It is a public beach with lots of parking and family fun. There are concessions, volley ball and swings sheltered in the shade of the Casuarina Trees also known as Australian Pines. Traveling south along Gulf of Mexico Drive past Longboat Key, Lido Key has the next section of public beach. Lido Beach is within walking distance to St. Armand’s Circle. The north beach is shaded and quiet. The south end of Lido beach is South Lido Park, 100-acres which has picnic tables and a playground. The water current along the beach in some parts is very strong. Swimmers beware! You must now travel off the island to the mainland and follow US 41 South to Siesta Key. Siesta Beach boasts 99% pure quartz sand is among the whitest and finest in the world. At the southern end of Siesta Key, is Turtle Beach, a less crowded beach which also has a boat ramp for boaters to access fun on the water. Nokomis Beach on Casey Key is Sarasota’s oldest public beach. It is a popular spot for fishing. At the southern tip of Casey Key is North Jetty Park. You’ll see lots of surfers when the wind is up!
